The RTG consists of 12 projects which will address challenges in the areas of
A) Structural complexity and environmental effects
B) Many-body effects
C) Non-equilibrium and dynamical phenomena
The main task of the RTG is to establish new directions in quantum mechanical materials modelling with applications to the example systems of 2d layered materials and oxide interfaces, where sensitivity to atomistic details meets one or more of the challenges A, B or C. The studies will provide understanding of structural, chemical, electronic and optical material properties leading from fundamental research to the exploration new applications.
